TribLive commenting plan

We modest commentary. Our goal is always to provide substantive commentary for a general readership. By assessment submissions, we provide a space in which visitors can share intelligent and informed commentary that improves the quality of our news and information.

While most commentary will undoubtedly be published if they're on-topic rather than abusive, moderating decisions tend to be subjective. We will make them as carefully and regularly as we can. Because of the volume of audience reviews, we can not review individual moderation choices with visitors.

We price thoughtful feedback representing a variety of views that make their point quickly and politely. We make an effort to protect discussions from duplicated feedback — either by the same audience or different readers.

We follow the exact same criteria for flavor as the everyday newspaper. A few things we will not tolerate: private assaults, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters accompanied by dashes), commercial advertising, impersonations, incoherence, proselytizing and SHOUTING. Do not integrate URLs to sites.

We try not to edit feedback. They're often approved or erased. We reserve the ability to modify a comment that is quoted or excerpted in articles. In this case, we might fix spelling and punctuation.

We welcome strong opinions and criticism of your work, but we do not wish remarks to become bogged straight down with talks of your guidelines and we'll moderate accordingly.
